What Can Affect Your Moving Cost?

Every move is different, so your estimate reflects your specific situation. Our calculator uses real-world factors to give you a fair, realistic price before you book. Here is what shapes the final cost:

  • 1
Distance of the move. The farther the drive, the more fuel, time and labour involved, which raises the total.
  • 2
Home size and number of rooms. A studio moves faster than a house. Apartments up to a 4½ usually need 2 movers, while larger homes often need 3 or more.
  • 3
Elevator or stairs. An elevator speeds a move along. A walk-up with several flights of stairs takes more time and effort, so it costs more.
  • 4
Season and timing. Peak periods, month-end and July 1 fill up and cost more. If your date is flexible, check a few dates for a lower price.
  • 5
Number of movers required. Bigger or more complex moves need a larger crew, which changes the estimate.
  • 6
Access and parking. A long carry from the truck to your door, or a street with no room for the truck, adds time to the job.
